Christmas is upon us! After such a busy year, we all can use some festive fun.

With some employees working in different states, from home or offshore, it can be difficult for everyone to get together in person for the yearly Christmas Party. Fear not! you can organise innovative virtual activities that will allow everyone to feel included and encourage team building.

Below are 5 virtual party ideas to make your Christmas party more Merry!

 1.     Secret Santa with a Twist

Everyone is used to the classic exchange of gifts in-office/person. However, you can use platforms such as Elfster to take this classic tradition to an online setting. The platform will automatically pair a gift giver with a recipient, supplying the recipient's name and address so givers can send their gifts ahead of time.

Team members can also make a wish list on the platform, so their secret Santa knows exactly what they want. On the day of the party team members can show their secret Santa gifts and guess who they came from.

2.     Online White Elephant

White Elephant party is a classic Christmas party activity, where team members can steal each other's gifts. To include remote employees, host White Elephant Online, where team members can upload an image of an item from a website to serve as their gift. Then each team member can virtually open and steal gifts. Once the game is over and you know which team member won each item, the gift giver can purchase the gift and ship it to the winner.

3.     Festive Trivia

Turn this fun filled and competitive game into a team building activity by assigning remote employees to small teams. Then let each team show off their knowledge by answering Christmas trivia questions that cover holiday movies, songs, traditions, and history.

4.     Name the tune

Enjoy music? and don't want to plan an activity? Just use a Spotify Christmas playlist and play 10 to 20 seconds of each song. Have your team members guess the song title and offer a prize for the winner (e.g. headphones, speaker or a gift card).

5. Christmas photo booth

The festive season is all about memories. Use this opportunity to capture all the fun by having a virtual photo booth (e.g. Snapbar) which provides a themed background behind party guests and then takes a screenshot. Team members can take a pic where it looks like they're at the North Pole, personalise it and upload it social media.

The options are endless, but introduce some of these activities to your Christmas party ideas to increase the fun!
